Anadarko, Bois d'Arc, Boots & Coots, ExpressJet report earnings

Anadarko Petroleum Corp., Bois d'Arc Energy Inc., Boots & Coots International Well Control Inc. and ExpressJet Holdings Inc. reported first-quarter results after markets closed on Monday.

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: APC) reported net income for its 2008 first quarter ended March 31, of $286 million, or 61 cents a share, on revenue of $2.98 billion, compared with net income of $1.72 billion, or $3.70 a share, on revenue of $5.25 billion in the same period last year. Earnings in the year-ago quarter were boosted by asset sales that netted the independent exploration and production company about $1.7 billion. Analysts on average expected Houston-based Anadarko (NYSE: APC) to report earnings per share of $1.22.

Bois d'Arc (NYSE: BDE) posted net income of $38.1 million, or 56 cents per share, on sales of $113.3 million, for the three months ended March 31, 2008. That compared with 2007's first-quarter net income of $11.9 million, or 18 cents per diluted share, on sales of $76.2 million.

Analysts polled by Thomson Financial were expecting the Houston oil and gas exploration company to have net earnings per share of 46 cents.

Boots & Coots, a Houston oil and gas services company, reported net income of $5.1 million, or 7 cents per share, for the first quarter ended March 31, 2008. That compared with $500,000, or 1 cent per share, for the same period last year. Revenue for the quarter was $45 million compared with $22.3 million for the first quarter of 2007.

Analysts expected Boots & Coots (AMEX: WEL) to have net earnings per share of 6 cents.

ExpressJet (NYSE: XJT) posted a first quarter net loss of $31.3 million, or 61 cents per share, on revenue of $448.2 million. That compared with net income of $10.2 million, or 18 cents per share, on revenue of $412.6 million, for the same period in 2007.

Analysts were expecting the Houston regional carrier to have a net loss of 45 cents per share.
