Gold’s Gym comes to Madison

Gold’s Gym is opening a new club in Dane County in the summer of 2009 in a 45,000-square-foot building that will be part of The Shops of Orchard Pointe in Fitchburg.

The Madison office of Lee & Associates represented Gold’s Gym in the $7 million, 10-year lease in the 110-acre development in western Dane County. A spokesman for Lee & Associates said Gold’s Gym, which started 50 years ago in Venice Beach, Calif., plans to add 200 additional franchise operations nationwide by 2010 and is considering other locations in the Madison area.

“Having Gold’s as the anchor of The Orchard Pointe development will strengthen the retail co-tenancy of the property,” said Steve Doran, a broker in Lee & Associates’ Madison office.

Lee & Associates is also recruiting other tenants for an additional 100,000 square feet of retail space in the Fitchburg shopping center.
