Houston to restrict land use near its airports

Houston must institute zoning-type restrictions barring certain types of development around its three airports or risk losing future federal grants, city and Federal Aviation Administration officials say.

To comply, city officials are putting together a plan to prohibit new residential construction on property closest to the airports. Other new development may need soundproofing.
